Architectural Digest, Online: The Art Capital of New England is a Former Factory Town

All across the country, cities are cutting the ribbon on amazing new exhibition spaces as well as anticipated updates to existing institutions.

In Los Angeles, collectors Maurice and Paul Marciano—of Guess-denim fame—have transformed a 1961 Masonic temple into theMarciano Art Foundation, a permanent gallery for their trove of contemporary treasures, opening May 25.

Walker Art Center/Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, meanwhile, will unveil its renovated campus June 3, introducing reimagined grounds and new commissions by Nairy Baghramian, Theaster Gates, and Philippe Parreno, among other outdoor pieces.

And on June 28, over on the East Coast, the town of Cold Spring, New York, welcomes Magazzino, a renovated warehouse complex conceived by Nancy Olnick and Giorgio Spanu for their collection of some 400 works of contemporary Italian art.
