Cold Spring Chamber of Commerce and Magazzino Italian Art Foundation Offer A New Scholarship
April 30, 2020

The Cold Spring Chamber of Commerce and Magazzino Italian Art Foundation have collaborated to create the Magazzino Educational Scholarship. Available to a local high school junior or senior with a strong interest in visual art or museum management, the scholarship consists of an award of $1,000 and a paid internship at Magazzino.
“We wish to thank Magazzino Co-founders Nancy Olnick and Giorgio Spanu and the staff of Magazzino Italian Art Foundation for their support,” said Eliza Starbuck, president of the Cold Spring Chamber of Commerce. “Art enriches us as individuals and as a community. This scholarship opens doors to a fulfilling professional life in art for a deserving Philipstown student. It also reflects the Chamber’s belief that a strong work ethic and sense of community service should be recognized.”
“We are thrilled to launch this scholarship and invite an excellent Philipstown student into the Magazzino family,” said Magazzino Italian Art Foundation Co-founders Nancy Olnick and Giorgio Spanu, “Connecting with a future leader in the arts at this early point in their career is a privilege. As an institution, we recognize how valuable first-hand experience can be and the mutual benefits the presence of new, creative perspectives bring. We look forward to engaging with the local student community directly during this moment and for years to come.”
Applications for the scholarship are available on the website of the Cold Spring Chamber of Commerce, and below, and must be submitted by June 7, 2020 to Nat Prentice at info@coldspringnychamber.com. The Chamber Scholarship Committee will evaluate the submissions. The scholarship winner will be announced at the Chamber’s 2020 Awards Dinner, to be held after the New York PAUSE order has ended.
The Magazzino Educational Scholarship replaces the Chamber’s former Philip Baumgarten Scholarship.
Magazzino Italian Foundation does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, creed, color, sex, age, physical or mental disabilities, sexual orientation, or national origin. The scholarship will be awarded on an objective and nondiscriminatory basis.
