Remembering Aurelio Repetto
January 1, 2024
It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of Aurelio Repetto (1934–2024), an important member of the Italian art community, whose remarkable life was devoted to art and nature. He passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on January 1st in Acqui Terme, Italy, leaving behind an enduring legacy that continues to resonate in the art world.
Born in a provincial town, Aurelio Repetto's journey traversed beyond geographical boundaries, leaving an indelible mark on Piedmont and on Italian art. Initially rooted in 19th and early 20th-century art, Repetto’s gallery evolution mirrored Aurelio's expansive vision and profound appreciation for diverse artistic expressions. Aurelio Repetto's passion for art was rivaled only by his love for nature, often seen walking amidst the mountains until his final days.
The Team at Magazzino Italian Art extends our heartfelt and deepest condolences to his loved ones. Aurelio’s impact on the art world will be cherished and remembered for generations to come—a visionary, a mentor, and a true connoisseur whose legacy transcends time.
Aurelio Repetto's departure echoes the sentiment expressed by the artist Fausto Melotti: “Beyond every door, there is something. Death is a door”.
His legacy lives on through his family, friends and the artists he championed, and the countless lives he touched through his profound dedication to the arts.
He will be dearly missed.
