Widewalls: Magazzino Italian Art's 2023 Spring Lecture Series Focuses on Arte Povera and Italian Postwar Period

The series will demonstrate how the identity of the Arte Povera movement was shaped by Italian artistic traditions in dialogue with American art.
The fifth series of spring lectures organized by Magazzino Italian Art is about to begin. The annual lecture series will gather leading scholars who will provide new insight into the postwar Italian art movement Arte Povera. Dubbed Arte Povera: Artistic Tradition and Transatlantic Dialogue, the series will also reflect on the movement's relationship with the US. Dr Marin R. Sullivan will hold the first lecture, titled Material Dispersions: Sculpture and Photography in Postwar Italy, on March 18th, 2023.
Casting the Past: Arte Povera and Classical Sculpture lecture by Dr Roberta Minnucci is scheduled for April 1st, while Arte Povera and the Baroque: The Evolution of National Identity by Dr Laura Petican will take place on April 15th. The final lecture entitled Between Cultural Diplomacy and Counterculture: Eugenio Battisti, Alan Solomon, and the Exhibition Young Italians in 1968 will be led by Dr Raffaele Bedarida on April 30th, 2023.
